Summer vibe

A few years ago, I recorded some wildlife in Birds Hill Park, close to Winnipeg, MB. During that day, I was surprised by the frogs that were singing their cold hearts out. So I decided to come back in the early morning in order to avoid the inevitable traffic.

This track contains most of the Bullfrogs, along with some Canada Geese, always fighting for prominence in either pictures, in parks or in sound recordings.

It has been a while since my last post here, life seems to be getting in the way of the hobbies lately. So no new recording, just one I made with my old Zoom H2 on a small mini-tripod a little bit too far away from the sound source. The hairy windshield for the recorder really saved the day for this one.

Apart from cropping out the start and end manipulation sounds, this is the recording as-is. No EQ, or anything. Only a normalizing of the levels.

Recording was made in WAV, 44.1kHz/16 bits. Back then I didn’t check settings or even fretted over them. Push the button and record, was the motto.

Enjoy a few minutes of swamp ambience… The picture is not a bullfrog, but from the same family of American Water Frogs.

Until next time…
