Streaming in the old-fashioned sense. Recently I acquired a pair of Clippys. So the first thing to try them out was on bird song in my backyard. But by now, most of the birds have left the province for warmer climes, and I am left with a few crows and some House Sparrows.
And even they don’t want to talk to me. So I had to find a different source of sound. A stream, not too far away from my house was my next target.
I could have gone for waves and sea, but I have presented already a lot of that in the past few blogs. So a little stream, streaming to its heart’s content was the goal.
In spring, this stream is a lot louder and has a lot more water in it, but by the end of a fairly dry summer, the sound is very friendly.I recorded this on my Zoom H6, so that I could compare the quality between the XY capsule from Zoom, the Clippies and my Behringer C-2s All were recorded at a correct level of –6dB and since there were no surprises in volume here, that was easily set.
Here is the result with the Clippys from Micbooster. This is a pair of matched mics. In the picture, they are on the ends of a piece of aluminum, spaced some 40cm apart. Above that, you have the Behringer C-2s with oversized windshields (I still have to shorten those to decent lengths) and at the bottom the Zoom H6.

C-2s:
Zoom X-Y:
Comparing the 3 will always be a temptation, but I think the Clippies here have the best result.
Until next time…
