Sound and noise is all around us. We are used to all of that. But have you ever stopped and listened to that “noise”? A big part of the environmental noise is made by humans. If you can filter it out, then you are left with the natural sound.
When the human noise can be filtered out of your sound recording, then what is left is the natural beauty of the environment.
As photographers, we always want to see the subjects, get as close to them as possible and then take the shot. As a field recordist, that is not necessarily true. One can record an environment without showing it.
Take this recording, for example. All those birds and even the dog… none of them were visible, but we can enjoy them anyway
As long as you have the patience to stop, stand still and listen for a few minutes.
